High resolution geophysics can be a powerful tool in groundwater contamination studies. When used in conjunction with modern tools for data integration and interpretation, quantitative 3D conceptual site models can be made which are actionable for improved site remediation. This presentation will use case studies to illustrate the design, implementation, and use of high-resolution geophysical studies to aid in the characterization of groundwater flow at contaminated sites. Key considerations for success include; physical property determination, method suitabilities/limitations, site-specific constraints, and availability of supporting data.

Roy is a Senior Geophysicist with over 8 years of experience in near surface geophysical applications. He has designed and managed projects of variable scope and complexity across the U.S. He has extensive experience in all of the classic near-surface geophysical methods including seismic, frequency and time domain electromagnetics (FDEM/TDEM), ground penetrating radar (GPR), magnetometry, electrical, and borehole geophysical methods. Roy performs project design, execution, and project management and delivery with the goal of executing the highest quality technical services and robust solutions to environmental, engineering, exploration, or any other range of geophysical problems. Roy is licensed as a professional geophysicist (P.Gp.) with the State of California. |
Dawn is a geophysicist with Collier Geophysics, located in Lakewood, CO. Dawn is a graduate from Colorado School of Mines with a B.S. in Geophysical Engineering. Dawn has a variety of experience with geophysical field methods including: seismic refraction tomography (SRT), passive multi-channel analysis of surface waves (MASW), electrical resistivity tomography (ERT), ground penetrating radar (GPR), frequency domain electromagnetic (FDEM), Offshore Self Potential (Marine SP), Onshore Self Potential (Land SP), and gravity. She has experience field leading ERT, GPR, FDEM, Land/Marine SP, SRT, MASW, and rigging rope access surveys. Dawn has experience in consulting projects from field data acquisition, analysis, 2D/3D graphical/visual displays of results, multi-source data integration. |
